Tonight, five different women placed their named on the scoresheet for the Hornets (5-4,1-0 ODAC) to overpower the WildCats (4-3, 0-3). Abby Alexa scored the game-winning goal in the 26th minute after the game was tied 1-1 in the third minute of the match.
HOW IT HAPPENED
32′ | Collimore and Alexa teamed up for what would be a mirror image of their first connection. Alexa crossed the ball to the right side of the box and Collimore's shot hit the inside of the right post to put the Hornets up 3-1.
47′ | Yergin crossed the ball from the numbers on the right side for an Alison Spaziani goal early in the second half.
62′ | Maiya Pencile scored an extra insurance goal from the center of the box. Yergin was credited with the assist, her second of the game.
03′ | Randolph quickly tied up the game 1-1, Sara Bane serviced the ball to Sam Hablas who scored.
QUOTES FROM COACH
"This was a well-balanced win," head coach Liz Pike said. "We were able to get players off the bench for valuable experience and playing time. A lot of women were able find the back of the net and be involved offensively. We are going to use tonight's experience to prepare for these upcoming ODAC matchups."
SU dominated possession and outshot Randolph 30-8.
Emilie Smith recorded six saves in her third collegiate win; she played 49 minutes of the match.
Emily Yergin took 10 shots, six of which were on goal. Alexa added five shots. Collimore, and Pencile took three shots apiece.
Randolph goalies combined for 13 saves. Zoe Warning had nine stops in 68 minutes of play while Shelby Lutz had four saves in 22 minutes.
The two programs have met six times after today, first meeting in 2012 after SU joined the ODAC. SU has won all six contests and the two teams did not play each other last year.
