Marlins Rally Past Men's Lax

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Shenandoah University men's lacrosse dropped a 10-9 loss at Virginia Wesleyan in an ODAC contest on Saturday afternoon.

Shenandoah (6-3, 2-1 ODAC) had a 9-6 lead going into the fourth quarter before Virginia Wesleyan (6-3, 2-1) rallied off four straight goals and kept the Hornets scoreless to steal the victory.

IN BRIEF

With the score tied at 9-9, the Marlins scored an unassisted goal with 64 seconds remaining to earn the victory.

VWU won the ensuing faceoff but Chris Wolford caused a turnover to give SU the ball back with 52 seconds left. Following a timeout, the Hornets missed the cage wide on a shot with 17 seconds left and the Marlins tossed the ball the length of the field on their clearing attempt.

Hornets goalkeeper Michael Beutel picked up the groundball on the errant pass, but it was too late to mount another offensive attempt.

VWU struck first with an unassisted Jason Thibeault goal at the 13:58 mark.

SU would score the next three in the quarter with back-to-back Devon Weaver goals and Orlando Levins tallying with 1:36 left to play in the first.
