CARLISLE, Pa. - The Shenandoah University field hockey team earned its second-ever field hockey win over Dickinson with a 2-1 non-league win Wednesday afternoon.

SU (4-1) used goals from seniors Kayla Alderman and Morgan Payne to put the Hornets on top after Dickinson (1-4) scored in the second minute of the game

21:49 | Off of a penalty, Taylor Hayes crossed the ball from the right side of the goal towards Kayla Alderman. Alderman tracked down the cross and was able to sneak a shot past the goalie.

48:59 | Morgan Payne inserted a penalty corner and Dickinson's defense was able to break the set up. However, Payne found the loose ball and was able to score to put the Hornets in the lead.

01:29 | Chelsea Kramer scored an unassisted goal through a cluster of Hornet defenders two minutes into the game.

"Coming in we knew this game would be a battle," said Head Coach Ashley Smeltzer-Kraft. "Dickinson scored early and we didn't let that get us down. I am proud of the girls for fighting through a physical game and making the most of scoring opportunities. Our defense came up big several times at the end of the game, everyone played their part to earn this win. It was a total team effort."

Today's game was the start of a four-game stretch on the road. The Hornets play at Stevenson on Saturday, September 15 at 6:00.

  • SU outshot Dickinson 17-15.

  • Isabella Morande recorded nine saves in the winning efforts.

  • The Red Devils had the advantage in Penalty corners 10-6, four of which were in the last minute of regulation.

  • After the Shenandoah win today, the Red Devils still hold a 5-2 advantage in the series history. Dickinson and SU have played each other every season since they first met in 2012.

  • Shenandoah's lone win prior to today was a 4-3 victory on September 1, 2012.
