Men's Soccer Drops Heartbreaker at VWU

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Men's soccer dropped a 3-2 ODAC contest to Virginia Wesleyan Saturday night.

After tying the game up twice, the Hornets (6-9-1, 3-6 ODAC) saw the Marlins (3-11-1, 3-6-1) score with five minutes remaining in the match to secure a win.

HOW IT HAPPENED

26′ | Chase Greene took advantage of a Marlin penalty in the Hornet's offensive half. Chance Hollins was credited with the assist. Greene's goal tied the match up 1-1.

81′ | With nine minutes to spare in regulation, Greene once again tied it up. After a big Sam Fischer save, Kane Melendez found Greene on the counter attack. Greene put it in the upper right corner, out of Griffin Potter's reach.

15′ | Austin McKenzie inserted a corner kick for the marlins. Off the set piece, Ricky Perrault scored. LJ Hicks was credited with the assist.

60′ | Virginia Wesleyan took the lead back when Scott Harrelson found Ricky Perrault for his second of the game.

87′ | Tyler Pratt found the head of Scott Harrelson for the Marlins to take back the lead 3-2.

SU wraps up regular season play on Tuesday with a 4 p.m. matchup against Lynchburg.
